What he invented

*Cable Car

Brief Biography
In 1873 the cable car was invented by a San Francisco native named Andrew S. Hallidie. He ultimately spared the horses the excruciating work of moving people over the city's steep roadways. Hallidie devised a mechanism that used metal ropes that he patented to draw cars on an endless cable running in a slot between the rails. Andrew Hallidie was born in 1834 and died in the year of 1900 at 66 years old.
